It is not always the case, however that an assessment is made for Continuing Healthcare Funding and that person might be treated as having straightforward social care need assessed by the local authority (via their social cares services) and assess a person for social care needs only. At this stage, consideration should be given to seeking an assessment for healthcare funding.
Surprisingly not all professionals in the healthcare and social sectors of activity will have knowledge of NHS Continuing Healthcare Funding and occasionally some prompting will be required to ensure that an assessment might be carried out.
Equally, if you as a family members have funded care for a relative and believe that no formal assessment has previously been carried out as to that person’s eligibility for NHS Continuing Healthcare then please contact us.
